Answers to Questions

I am anxious about going to the dentist. Do your dentists provide sedation options?

Yes, we realize that many people avoid seeing a dentist because they are afraid. Our dentists provide three different options for the fearful patient; oral sedation (a small pill to help you rest), nitrous oxide (happy or laughing gas), IV sedation, and a combination of these for a deeper form of sedation. Learn more about sedation dentistry here.

Does your office accept insurance?

Our office will gladly bill your dental insurance and will perform a complimentary benefits check when you present your insurance card--whether you're new to our office or are a returning patient with new insurance. We will work with you to maximize your insurance dollars on the recommended treatment. We also file claims electronically for the fastest processing time possible. Learn more about insurance, payment plans, and methods of payment here.

Is Brewer Dental Center accepting new patients?

Yes, and we will schedule our new patients the same day they call. Send your friend a link to our website's contact us page. Call us in the morning...we'll get you in today--GUARANTEED!

How much does it cost to have my teeth cleaned?

Without seeing you, it's hard to say. If your last cleaning and dental visit were more than a year ago, we may need to take X-rays and schedule an exam with the doctor, in addition to your hygiene appointment. Then, if you are one of the 80% of American adults who suffer with gum disease, you may need a deep cleaning, rather than a standard hygiene visit. Schedule a checkup, and we'll talk with you about the next steps. Rest assured, we will never perform a procedure without your consent, and we will always make you aware of the cost prior to treatment. Learn about payments and insurance here.

Do your dentists offer silver fillings?

Our office no longer places amalgam or silver fillings, we only use composite material because of health concerns of mercury leaching issued by the FDA. We will certainly be glad to remove silver fillings if a patient has recurrent decay or wants to replace them with composite for cosmetic reasons.

Do your dentists extract wisdom teeth? If so, how much does it cost?

Yes, we can surgically remove most teeth, including wisdom teeth. First, your dentist will conduct a thorough oral exam to determine the complexity of the extraction. Cost is associated with the level of difficulty, and you will be given an estimate upon the exam findings. For your comfort, we offer sedation to help patients relax during surgical procedures.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, our office provides a variety of payment options. We accept cash or checks, and all major credit cards. In addition, we offer in-house financing and CareCredit. Learn more here, on our financial options page.

Do you do teeth whitening?

Yes, we offer several options to give patients a beautiful, white smile. Zoom! Whitening creates significantly whiter teeth within two hours, in our office. Another option is custom bleaching trays that can be used in the comfort of your home. Our cosmetic dentists can also apply veneers or Lumineers to permanently whiten and improve the appearance of your teeth. Read about cosmetic dentistry here, and learn more about Zoom! Whitening here.

Crowns

Do you have cracked, broken, decayed or worn teeth and are a little self-conscious? With dental crowns, we can restore the natural look and function of your teeth. A crown, also referred to as a cap, is designed to fit, feel, look and function like a natural, healthy tooth as it protects your original tooth from further decay or damage.

We offer metal, porcelain fused to metal and all-porcelain crowns for patients to choose from. We recommend all-porcelain crowns, which allow you to maintain the natural beauty of your smile as they are closely matched to your tooth’s original color. Porcelain crowns are long lasting and durable.

Generally, it only takes a couple of appointments to design, fit and place your custom crown. Once it is in place, you care for it just like your other teeth by brushing at least twice a day, flossing and regularly visiting Brewer Dental Center for routine dental exams and cleanings.

Dental Sealants

When your teeth have deep pits in them, it is easy for food particles and bacteria to hide in them and cause decay. This is fairly common among children who are still learning to brush and floss properly. In these situations, we recommend dental sealants to protect the molars and premolar chewing surfaces from decay. Dental sealants are recognized by the American Dental Association as a key way to prevent cavities.

The procedure is simple. We will first identify any areas that would be prone to developing decay and clean your teeth with an etching solution to prepare your tooth for the sealant. We will let this solution sit for 15 seconds and thoroughly rinse and dry the surface of your tooth before covering it with the sealant. A sealant is made up of a thin plastic film that hardens with a curing light. This simple, fast and comfortable procedure takes between 10 and 45 minutes, depending on the number of teeth being treated.

Sealants are highly effective in preventing tooth decay and cavities. They can last up to 10 years and are minimally covered by insurance.

DIAGNOdent

Early detection is the key to preventing severe dental complications so we utilize the most advanced technology available to assist us in detecting cavities at their earliest stages. Conventional methods for detecting cavities are helpful, but often times only 50 to 75 percent successful. This method of detection is often limited based on the location and depth of the cavity. To increase our patients’ possibility of keeping a beautiful, healthy smile for a lifetime, we utilize DIAGNOdent Cavity Detection technology – an innovative dental laser that recognizes decay and cavities at the earliest stages.

Using laser diode technology, DIAGNOdent is able to compare the reflection wavelength of a tooth against a healthy baseline wavelength to reveal decay. DIAGNOdent has proven to be over 90% successful in detecting even the smallest lesions that aren’t even noticed on X-rays!

This procedure is simple, quick and pain free, and most of all, it helps preserve the overall health of your smile! No X-rays are necessary so you don’t even have to be concerned about radiation exposure.

Digital X-rays

We are dedicated in staying on the cutting-edge of the latest advancements in dentistry, including a new way of seeing the inside of your mouth. Digital radiography is a revolutionary way that allows us to capture detailed images of your mouth and display them electronically using computer software. This not only increases our diagnostic capabilities, but also reduces your exposure to radiation by 90%!

Digital radiography has simplified the process of caring for your teeth. From the comfort of the dental chair we can capture the images needed and thoroughly educate you about your current dental situation.

Your Heart & Oral Health

Did you know that the health of your teeth and gums is directly connected to your cardiovascular health? Studies continuously show a direct link between the two and how a mouth full of bacteria can prove to be detrimental to the health of your heart. It can fill your arteries with a stream of poisons that could eventually cause a blood clot. When sufficient blood is not flowing through your heart, you are at an increased risk for having a heart attack or stroke.

We take the necessary steps to help prevent heart problems and keep your oral health where it should be. It is vital for you to take the same necessary steps by brushing and flossing daily and regularly visiting Brewer Dental Center for a routine dental exam and cleaning. These dental exams are very important as oral cancer and gum disease are serious problems that often go unnoticed without proper screenings.

Tooth Colored Fillings

Don’t go another day being embarrassed of your smile because of dark fillings in your teeth. Call us today to see if you are a good candidate for tooth-colored composite fillings. These durable fillings can restore teeth while allowing you to keep the natural beauty of your smile.

Composite fillings have several advantages over metal fillings. Their strong, durable design protects your tooth for up to 10 years! Their sleek composition also allows you to keep more of your natural tooth structure compared to amalgam fillings. The most obvious benefit to composite fillings is their aesthetic appearance. They are closely matched to your natural tooth colored so you can continue to smile with confidence.
